Come on board and discover the beauty of the Italian language and of Italy’s rich culture. This course aims at complete beginners and those with some experience of the language. Each day we cover a different topic with related vocabulary and simple grammatical structures. Emphasis is put on conversation and the discovery of some aspects of the Italian culture and of some cities.
Topics within the two- and half-hour sessions include: Personal Information and Greetings; Directions and Travelling; Booking into a Hotel; A Day at the Market and Eating Out (restaurant, small bites and drinks).
From the flea market of Porta Portese in Rome to some of the greatest fashion houses of Milan, the course brings you both lesser known cities (Tiscali, I Sassi di Matera…) and cultural highlights of this fine and varied country (Verona and Costa Smeralda).
Sessions are fun, relaxed and filled with role-plays that gently introduce you to the language. The cultural topics are supported by an array of visual and musical materials. In addition, the vocabulary of this cultural section is extended by resources to practise with your family!

This superb, light and airy listed building provides spacious learning complete with comfy break out and relax areas for the mid – morning break. A stroll onto the bustling High Street is just 1 minute away! The Church itself is 15th Century, and our location boasts spectacular beams and windows.

​Join this popular Post Beginner five-day intensive Italian Summer School named after the famous actor/director Roberto Benigni’s film ‘Life is Beautiful’. Using your existing straightforward knowledge of the Italian language we use more complex structures to use and discover each day some famous tales from Italy’s rich culture. This course aims at Post Beginners and those with some existing experience of the language, perhaps from courses, travel or work. Each day we also cover a different topic with related vocabulary and extend knowledge with new grammatical structures. You will know how to talk about families, professions and about physical and personality descriptions. You will be taught how to converse about holidays using the past tense and shopping for clothes. You will discover places like Taormina in Sicily, Vieste in Puglia and the Roman sites of Tharros and Nora in Sardinia. Emphasis is put on improving confidence in speaking, listening and understanding excerpts from everyday life and the discovery of new areas of Italy that have hidden traditions.

Biography:
Alessandra has a very high reputation across the region as one of our top linguists and Italian tutors. Alessandra has been delivering tutoring in Italian for Summer Schools in Marlborough for over 15 years! She enjoys Chartered Linguist status with Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and worked for the prestigious Oxford University, two government ministries and currently is an examiner for government institutions. Alessandra is registered at the Italian Consulate in London as an authorised translator and interpreter for the UK.
Alessandra founded the Italian Experience Cotswold in 2017, and this company now runs courses in Italian all year round and for participants across the UK. Her courses In Marlborough are frequently sold out and this year -for the first time- her two popular Italian courses ‘Destination Italy’ and ‘La Vita E Bella’ have moved to the 15th Century Upper Cottage Hall of St Mary’s Church overlooking the High Street.
Alessandra has taught for 26 years in the UK at all levels, from beginners to advanced. She has assisted in the editing of textbooks for Oxford University Press (for the international market) and updates her training and linguistic practice at the highly regarded DILIT International School in Rome.
